Chinese Orchestra and Festival Drum Group
Presents
"Musical Concert"

Our Chinese Orchestra will be presenting a Musical Concert at Singapore Conference Hall on Sunday, 20th December 2009, at 7.00 PM. The concert will feature famous classical Chinese pieces performed by a full orchestra of over 120 members and our Festival Drums group. The programme includes full orchestra, Wind and Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble, Plucking Ensemble, Guzheng Solo as well as a combined item with our Festival Drums group and orchestra.

Hey CCHYCO peeps!
As you all know, we will be having a performance on 27 June during the Gala dinner to celebrate CCH 70th anniversary. From my observation, it has been two months since the SYF competition and I personally feel that the morale of our CO is getting lower, due to a month’s break after the competition.

Hence, I think that we should do something to regain our morale and bonding among our members. Listed below are some positive comments by people from the CO forum. I think that by reading these good comments, it may help to strengthen the bond between members of CCHYCO again!! :)

Some percussionists on day one the movement was like counting beats.

Also, since we are given the chance to play SBYG again, I think that we should give it our best shot! Though it may not be the last time we are playing it, we should maintain the standard of our SYF competition day! This event may not be a competition, but after all it is a song which led us to our GwH award. So, I feel that we should keep up the spirit we had during the SYF period and spread our contagious music to the audience!! :D

Dear CCHYCO,

20th April marks an important day to all of us.
This is the day when we all share the same goal, the same dream : TO ACHIEVE A GOLD WITH HONOURS IN SYF'09.
and at 6.15pm ( i think ) :
"第五间，中正中学义顺，Chung Cheng High Yishun. *LONG PAUSE* 荣誉金."
At that moment, everyone was jumping with joy. After all the hardwork, all the tears, all the scoldings, everything is worth; 5months of practice.

We started practicing the SYF pieces since the December camp. Everyone was thrilled to have their hands on the choice piece as we need to 'sing' which looks so cool. On the last day of the camp, we ran through both songs and there were MANY rooms of improvement. As time passed, both of them got better and better and better, until we have to go through the songs bit by bit to look out for minor problems. And throughout this 5months of practice, I realised that I had cried for 3times. Each time is always for the same reason : all of you doesnt want to put in the effort to 'sing'. All of you were thrilled to perform this song, yet not much effort was put into it.

Ever since the balloting, we talked abt this SYF from months to weeks to days to hours and to THE MOMENT OF IT. and at every practice, there must always be sth for me to 'scream' abt : PUNCTUALITY. Soon after, I gave up. There is no point for me to keep shouting at all of you; so just be it.

Last week was a tiring to all.
Practicing from monday to sunday, for almost 3hours everyday. It was tiring to everyone, i understand. What were all this preparation for? FOR 20THAPRIL09 SYF CENTRAL JUDGING COMPETITION. 5months of practice in exchange of 20minutes of performance up on stage; and that 20mins determine what award you will get. Sometimes, do you think whether it is fair anot. Sometimes I find that it is not fair. 5months of practice, and yet you cant get what you want, it is totally very upsetting. But on the bright side, it is fair. Why? Simple. It is the matter of putting your heart into the song.

SUNDAY, 19th APRIL
Everyone practiced from 2.30pm to abt 7.30pm. It was VERY tiring and all have to reach school at 6am the next day. During practice, it went well. When Zhaolaoshi went off and we practiced 走台, everyone was chattering away when we were outside the MPH. Junhong was trying to get us to listen, yet no one bothers to listen. Thats why I shouted. Junhong has already told you, whatever you are practicing now, is equal to tmrw.

TODAY, 20th APRIL
At SCH, on standby, everyone was feeling very nervous, including me. Everyone's heart is beating against the chest very hard. And when it is our turn to get on the stage, everyone started to feel the stress laying upon them. Up on stage, the chairs were left what they aint suppose to be. Some of you got a shock.
The Song Of Cicada was played, I tried to smile to give all of you encouragement. The song went VERY WELL; better than I expected. When the song ended, everyone was anxious as they were afraid that they would play the wrong note.
Next came our choice piece. The beginning went VERY WELL too; the 'singing' was the best that everyone had a shock in. It was so loud and it echoed through the whole SCH. The last note was the one that everyone was VERY satisfied with.
On the way off the stage, some of the girls cried. What is the reason for them to cry? I dont know. But i know one thing for sure, we didnt expect it to be so well; we have really put in our BEST effort to play both songs.
After listening to some schools, the time to release the results is ready.
When we heard that we had achieved Gw/H, all was jumping with joy.
ALL THE EFFORT HAD BEEN PUT OFF; IT IS ALL WORTH, NOTHING IS UNFAIR NOW.

However, CCHYCO. This is the end of a story, but a beginning of another.
The journey that we are going to encounter now will be a long and hard route.
We had achieved a Gw/H, now we need to learn how to SUSTAIN this award for each SYF now. This is the difficult path to walk. But I know that all of you are capable of it and you can do it.
HAVE FAITH WITH YOURSELF AND EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

So CCHYCO, continue to strive ahead and glory will definitely be brought to you. (:
Always remember : ALLOW THE MUSIC TO FLOW THROUGH YOU; IN SHORT, RELAX.

Competing with schools like River Valley High, Anglo Chinese Barker Rd, CHIJ katong convent & Boon lay sec.

Countdown, 43days.
Everyone worked so hard to even have the privilege to be practising in the CO room for SYF. Being with CO, going for SYF is a privilege. Some people yearn so much but they never get there. But you all did, all 80 of us. So, let us strive for the best & make the school proud of us. We all have a common goal, & that's GWH.

The remaining 43days will be a taxing one.
It's just school, stress, homework, CCA, extra stuffs, back to school, more stress, tonnes of hw, deprived of sleep, fatigue & more practice hours. What a vicious cycle.
Pull through this torturous period people.
The satisfaction/joy/happiness we'll get at th end of the day, is PRICELESS.

Before i start on anything, pls pardon my standard of English because I didn't study really hard for my English. Very sorry about that !

Tomorrow is officially the day I'll graduate from CCHY. At least till now I've now been living with any regrets . And the points I would touch on today maybe the last times I'm going to lecture your. But I would like all the CCHYCO members to take them very seriously, because I think this is the last bit I can do now.

As a student from CCHY, frankly speaking, I loved the school very much because of her history, culture as her name as well. But, what i really like about this school is the spirit of the school, the way the students bond themselves together, the way the things are carried out and of course all the lovely members of this big lovely family. Of course they were always cork-ups here and there and whichever event, but they were generally attended to and nullified. Maybe this is the CCHY style.

I would like all of you who read this post to use all you have in your mind and soul to sense the Chung Cheng spirit within our own CCHY family. Do not take anything for granted. Take note of every actions that your friends do to be kind with you, every action our teachers take to educate despite sacrificing their meal, rest and sleep time to mark your chunks of EOY papers at this very minute. Take note of how our VP always remind us of not to be late for school and take a trip earlier. Take note of how Mr Ong motivates us in his every speech and how he would protect the rights of his own fellow subordinates and students. Take note of how Mrs Sim trying her best to keep us in order despite her health. Take note of how Mdm Teo treated everyone of us as her very own children. Think and sense it ! This is called humanity ! Doing everything not for the sake of themselves, but for the sake of everyone in the school. If you are able to notice what I have just said, you will be able to sense the warmth from everyone.

As a student leader, I went through much more things that normal students don't have the chance to. I've been put in-charge in several projects as well an co-in-charge. Every project has its difficulty but I tried my best in accomplishing my tasks. It was not easy.

Ms Wong if you happen to see this post, this portion is for you.

I never had the courage to tell you how i felt this four years. I really have to say sorry to you. If I had any regrets in My Secondary school life, it got to be you. You were the one who handpicked me after a recommendation William in sec 1. You were supporting me throughout my Sec2 prefect life, even after I've given up on being a prefect throwing my badge on the floor, you were the one who gave me the courage and motivation to move on after all the conflicts I had with my peers at that time. You told me I was selected for the post of senior prefect, you were the one I trusted. In sec 3, we had been really well with each other, we could really chat on lots of topics and you were to me, a guider, teacher, and a friend. My motivation at that time was only to help you and assist you, to share your burden so you would not be so tired and you could be a more HOT (Happy Ordinary Teacher). But i knew after that incident, you were not going to trust me again. I lost it. I totally lost it. Even till now, I knew that we were not the same in the past. Because of you , I'm able to learn so much things, but also because of you, I cried. Because I knew what is the real definition of regret. I promise you that I'll make you proud with Chee Jun Hong as your student and as your friend. I will.

Now my personal things is over, it is great time to lecture all of you now. CCHYCO you all have to stay united as one. I could not give great speeches like what the Main school CO because of my limitation. But I hope all of you can sense my passion. I will not regret of how much I have devoted myself into CO. I do not ask for anything in recognition of my efforts. I only wanted everything to move smoothly so everything could be fine. I don't wish for an orchestra whose members always practice like mad to get GWH, but do not even know anyone from the other sectional groups. I want any orchestra whereby everyone put in their heart and soul and playing every pieces, whereby everyone is discipline to do the right things at the right time and play like mad if they have the chance to. If I am able to do that, I think it is worth while to contribute another four years. Be reminded, CCHYCO is no longer an CCA, it is a big family whereby everyone soul come as well to achieve the dream they want AFTER curriculum time. Most importantly, stay positive.

Please listen to your leaders. I have absolute faith in them so must all of you. Please forgive them for whatever stupid mistakes they have made, it was because of my negligence . I hereby ask for all of your apologies. My comm, the leadership structure I am proud of, please do not fail me. Stay united, carry out your duties. I could not contribute much to the school because I am simply weak, but none of you are, I believe all of you could together soar into the skies and scale higher heights than me. Just persevere, don't ever give up, or you'll be a failure like me, living with regrets.

I really enjoyed the times i conducted all of you. I'm truly happy everytime when we put up a performance. How we actually stayed together despite the fearsome challenges ahead of us. Like the Mooncake festival celebration in school, we were facing dire consequences, but none of you gave up. Instead , I saw all of your perseverance in every piece we played and we stayed through with each other till the end, putting up the best ever general command in the school. Thanks alot to all of you. Without all of you, I wouldn't be here. Thanks.

Just some final words. Be dare to dream. When I was in Primary school, I dreamt of myself getting 250 for my PSLE. I told myself it's impossible and I better set an realistic target of 230. I got 251 in the end ( lucky bah). When I first entered CCHY, I told myself I would be the one taking the mike and shouting the command. Unfortunately, Ms wong asked me go up last year without any training( compared to other prefects who had 4 months training). When I was in sec 2, I told myself that I will be the one Who's the next vice-head prefect, but judging on the duties I was doing, I think a happy ordinary prefect would be good already. When i entered the Chinese orchestra Leadership Camp last year, where all chairperson and vice chairperson from every school's CO come together to undergo a training. I dreamt of becoming the best student leader and conductor in the camp, but judging from my mass would be giving everyone a joke. But in the end i succeeded. When i applied for the outstanding all-rounders award last year, I knew I won't stand a chance against anyone. But whenever I thought of the joy I if I gotten the school level award I'll feel motivated. And in the end I got the OARS CDC level award the one more prestigious than the school level. Now I dream to become the top scorer of the school, achieving 8A1s in my coming O level. (Though it's really quite impossible la) . I also dream of becoming the future Prime Minister (This is only a dream). i think after publishing this pot there'll be lots of people mocking at me, saying that I'm boasting. But what I'm trying to tell all of you is that, DARE TO DREAM !

Really last words. Thanks alot for all of your accompany throughout this four years. Thank you mdm teo, if you hadn't given me the chance to do it, I won't be what I am. Thank you Ms Lin XY, must smile more! Thank you Ms wong. Thank You CCHYCO. I really hope to see all of you present in the graduation ceremony tomorrow, giving hugs to all your seniors thanking them for their efforts as well. This would be like last wish. To see all of you up there. Thank you, CCHYCO. :)

Yo!!today performance is wonderful!!!Thks to those who perform n help out!!!Today,everyone assemble at co romm at 7am...after tt we took the bus to NORTHLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL..we reach there and load the instrument...everyone has done a wonderful job...then we go to arranged the seating arrangement...then mdm teo treat us drinks...after tt we perform to those lower primary student...after tt we play the shi ban yao gu!!!is quite gd already...then after tt it was the upper primary...but during the jiang jun ling it drizzle so the song after were cancel...then after the student when back to their classes,we when to had our breadfast...their food were damm nice...hahas...after tt everyone is waiting the bus to come but when the bus arrived,it was raining heavily...then alot of us were raining cats n dogs...TOTALLY WET...but we dun mind,THE INSTRUMENT oso WET!!!then the paigu skin is all wet n some spoil...the bass will oso TOTALLY WET...then we were back to sch le,everyone chong back to co room to dry the instrument!!!frm here we all can see the BOND between us!!!hahas...we mus bless tt those instrument which were wet wouldn spoill!!!cus bass normally grow algae after it is WET!!!lols..this is all abt today performance n there will be an concert

yos plp! paiseh. just now the post is i type in a rush de. now i am posting a VERY DETAILED ystday.

ystday, after the practice for mon's performance, we all went home. then abt 3, JUNSIAN started to call to everyone he could find to go & watch a concert that is held at KEBAN BARU MALL, AMK. the 10 plp ( w/o MDM TEO ), met at AMK msrt station at 5pm. when JUNSIAN, JUNHONG, JESMOND, JIAEE, JOEY, KAILIN, JIAMIN, APRIL came at the mrt and met with AARON & CHEUKTOW, they all said, " aiya, joey, you have no hope alr. " because what happened is that both JESMOND & CHEUKTOW wore polo tee, with a slyster ( dont know ho to spell ) on the left of JESMOND'S shirt, and a ralph lauren logo on the left of CHEUKTOW'S shirt. thats why they all said that JOEY has no more hope le. you all can guess why? CHEUKTOW dont want to say it, because she doesnt want them to be shy!

after that, we took bus 169 to the KEBAN BARU MALL. it was raining at that time, argh! when we reached, we felt cheated. because the performance was held at the KEBAN BARU FOOD CENTRE instead. it is not in a mall. but nvm, we went to the food centre & saw the CCHM students.

we sat at 2 tables : AARON, JOEY, JIAEE, KAILIN, JUNSIAN ( 1 table )
CHEUKTOW, JESMOND, JIAMIN, APRIL, JUNHONG ( 1 table )
when MDM TEO called JUNSIAN to tell him that she has arrived, we decided to play a prank on AARON. we ( CHEUKTOW, JESMOMD, JUNSIAN, JUNHONG, JIAMIN, APRIL ) left the tables slowly, one-by-one. CHEUKTOW was the last to leave. when AARON saw CHEUKTOW leave, he also stood up. then, she told him, nvm, you can sit down, we go & buy some things then come back. you just sit ard first. of course, he didnt suspect anything, she just walk off to join the rest. we just couldnt help laughing.
when MDM TEO came, we told her our plan, but AARON'S eyes were too fast. he saw MDM TEO and stood immediately to greet her. so............... our plan - FAILED!

and so, we walked abt the exhibition halls. soon, we found another 2 tables and sat down.
JUNHONG, AARON, MDM TEO, CHEUKTOW, JESMOND, JUNSIAN ( 1 table )
JIAMIN, APRIL, JOEY, KAILIN, JIAEE ( 1 table )
MDM TEO give us treats by ordering french fries, chicken wings, and drinks for all of us. then, as we waited, we chat abt CO matters and school matters. then CHEUKTOW told her table the actions that her ' twin ' ( HUAN WEN ) did on fri. the small actions that teachers do. everyone was having a good time laughing ; MDM TEO laughed until cried.

at abt 6.45, the concert began. well, it wasnt that nice. they even have a sing-along session on the song [ HOME ] , one of the national days songs. after that song, we went home. it was raining - again. however, ystday, was quite a special day. because MDM TEO didnt drive her car ; she took the bus home, just like us! lols. we said goodbye to her & boarded 268 to amk mrt. we stood two sides : JUNHONG, JESMOND, JUNSIAN, AARON ( 1 side )
JIAEE, JOEY, KAILIN, CHEUKTOW ( 1 side )
*ps : APRIL & JIAMIN took another bus home.
then, JUNHONG said, KAILIN, you shld change place with JESMOND, then JOEY will be happy. of course, JESMOND will keep rejecting, but JUNHONG ' pushed ' him over. JOEY blushed and JESMOND felt very INNOCENT. JESMOND keep saying, walao, walao, walao. then AARON came our to the oher side & keep asking CHEUKTOW to move in, so that she can ' push ' JESMOND to JOEY. but JESMOND also keep ' pushing ' CHEUKTOW back. poor CHEUKTOW. well, the pushing carried on until we reached the mrt. we alighted & waited for JUNSIAN to top-up his ez-link card. then JUNHONG ( better nth to do ) said, lets go to AMK hub to walk, before going home. so, we walked & walked, until we came across the shop, YOGURT. CHEUKTOW went there to buy. after buying, we continued walking till bread talk, when JUNHONG said that he wanted to buy bread. but he didnt but in the end, cause he didnt want us to wait for him. so we went to the mrt & took the train home. on the way home, when we were abt to reach KHATIB, JUNHONG & JUNSIAN said, JOEY, must rmb to sms JESMOND horh. then JOEY keep sayng, walao. when KHATIB came, JOEY & CHEUKTOW alighted, with JUNHONG'S reminder : CHEUKTOW, remind JOEY to msg JESMOND horh. hahaha. CHEUKTOW put up the okay sign.

well, thats all for ystday! hahaha. as for JOEY & JESMOND, SORRY! (:

THE SPECIAL CEREMONY.

today is 090708, 9th July 08, however you write. (:
today will be the ceremony day that i decided to give w/o notifying anyone.

firstly, i wld like to thank everyone for your support in CO. I, as the chairman of CO, will declare the ceremony OPEN!
Next, i wld like to give "awards" to the following plp:

KONGJASMINE
As the co secretary, she has done a very WONDERFUL job in keeping the CO in order. In here, I want to thank her for making CO so lively & bonding by creating this CO blog, together with SIMRONGHER & JESMONDZHUANG. Without Jasmine, CO will still be as dull as the past.
Jasmine is also a good advisor to me. Apart from her creativity, she also gives me lots of opinions. Without her, the things that turned out will be of no creativity, like me. lols.
Therefore, I wld like to present to her the "creative-advisor award".

SIMRONGHER
Next, SIMRONGHER. As the saying goes, "Do not jusge a book by its cover." Rongher is one good example. As another CO secretary, Rongher can be very horny sometimes. She is actually quite a not-so-normal person. jkjk. She is a ............................, I cant describe any further. Thus, I wld award her the "'Do not judge a book by its cover' award".

JESMONDZHUANG
JESMONDZHUANG, one of the HANDSOMES. A vice-chairman, who looks quiet, but can be very wild sometimes. Jesmond has got many nicknames: HANDSOME, THE LINKING MAN, etc. I guess he likes to use the computer alot, as he is often seen to online. Hence, the "so-free handsome linking man award". will be given to him.

RACHELSNG, ELIZABETHTAN, YAPXUEQI, SHERRYCHAI
Although always late for CO practices, they still attend w/o fail. Although untidy in uniform, they werent caught that often. Their mouths dont stp, so dont be afraid to ask them for tidbits! Therefore, the "try-to-be-guai award" shall be given to each of them.
p.s: pls. be punctual for all practices now! (:

well, thats the end of the ceremony. I shall "observe" more & give more "SURPRISE" ceremonies next time!

05JULY08, A day that's marked.

Today is the day where cchyco performed to its fullest.
Today is the day where we marked as the CO BIRTHDAY.
Today is also the day where our wonderful senior had to step down.
There were a lot of mixed feelings today,
and this might be the last time we'll get perform with him.

MR CHEEJUNHONG (:

Without him, cchyco wont be what we are today.
i know we're still not up to th gold-with-honour standard,
but cchyco is working towards it.
Watch us senior, we'll practice hard.
with motivation and great guidance from the instructors,
Im sure we'll succeed.

Junhong: Tell you what, you are so courageous today.
Your speech was fantastic and very touching.
You say you're a loner, but as of today.
You aint,
cause the whole co will be behind supporting you all th way.

We played the general's command again after the whole ceremony has ended.
It was very touching cause its the last time Junhong's conducting.
Although the fast part went a bit haywire,
with everyone rushing like nobody business,
playing many notes wrongly,
but i guess. Everyone had fun. dint we [:
Back in co room, where we gathered together in a big circle,
singing the general's command with our own voices,
(people, its time we train our vocals as well )
dinning together with joy and laughter.

Definitely, today is a day to be remembered.
